LOGAN — Two Cache Valley recreation projects and a campground restoration in Rich County are among 38 statewide efforts receiving funding through Utah’s Outdoor Recreation Initiative (ORI), the Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation announced this week.

The division awarded $21 million in total grants, supporting a range of outdoor infrastructure, trail, and planning projects across Utah.

In Cache County, the Northern Bonneville Shoreline Trail Phase 2 was awarded $1.06 million to continue development of the regional trail system that runs through the foothills east of Logan and connects communities across the Wasatch Front and Cache Valley.

Another $270,000 will go to Nibley City for Phase 2B of its City Center Park Bike Park Course, expanding the city’s growing network of biking features and family recreation options.

In neighboring Rich County, the Bureau of Land Management’s Little Creek Campground project will receive $1 million for campground redesign, engineering, and construction to restore and modernize the area’s facilities.

The Outdoor Recreation Initiative was created by the Utah Legislature and is administered by the Division of Outdoor Recreation to help local governments and land managers plan and invest in sustainable recreation infrastructure.

“These projects are investments in Utah’s future,” said Patrick Morrison, recreation program director for DOR. “Through the Outdoor Recreation Initiative, we’re empowering communities to build lasting recreation infrastructure and foster stewardship and sustainability at the regional level. The impact of these projects will be felt for generations.”
